Rejoice, And Be Glad...

Each summer for the past three years the Ebenezer Methodist Steel Orchestra  has been able to carry its member to places that they may not be able to see on their own. The trips are largely educational in nature that allow the member to experience different cultures and  lifestyles that may differ from their own.  Additionally the group endeavors to spread the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through music. In 2002, the band was able to travel to St. Thomas, our sister island in the United States Virgin Islands.  In 2003, the band traveled to Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and last year the members were able to travel to Vieques, Puerto Rico.

This summer the band has embarked on it biggest venture yet. The band has been invited to bring the word of God through music to the capital city of Austin in the state of Texas. This is by far the band's challenge to date and the furthest  we have traveled from our home. For many of the band members and officers, this will be the first time traveling to Texas. The band has been invited to play at the capital rotunda, to play the National Anthem at the beginning of a Houston Astros' game, and to play at churches in and around the Victoria, Texas area.

While there, educational tours will be planned to give the members a overview of the culture and rich history of Texas. Members are also encouraged to write essays of the trip to help sharpen their writing and spelling skills.

The band is interested in taking between 40 to 50 members on this trip. Currently each member is asked to raise $500.00 towards the trip. We are currently soliciting donations to assist the members to attain their goal. Please help us!!!!
